Welcome!

I’m Hillary

wife, mom of 4, Food blogger, nutrition coach

I’ve been cooking for 25 years. Ever since I laid on the den floor of my childhood home and watched food network cooking shows. Laying on that floor I learned the basics like dicing an onion and boiling water. It grew into a love of combining flavors to make simple whole food recipes that taste delicious. I am thrilled to be sharing them with you today. All my recipes are gluten free and kid approved. I can’t wait to hear what you try and love!

I am passionate about healthy, real food. Eating it changed my health in my mid twenties and I have been on a mission to share ever since. Food swaps and label reading are my jam so I share that often too.

I am my paternal grandmother remade in many ways. I love gardening, all things home and welcoming others into my home. So I will share a little of all that too and think of my Gran as I do.

Healthy shouldn’t mean bland. I’m passionate about creating flavorful, nutritious recipes that make wholesome living easy & enjoyable.

Behind the blog

How it all started

I first shared recipes on a little blog called Feed your Genes. It was pre kids while my hubby was in chiropractic school. Some of those recipes show up because good food never gets old. Then came his graduation, starting a business, having 2 babies, starting another business and having 2 more babies. I retired from nursing and helped the hubby run the business’s until becoming a stay at home mom. All the while I kept cooking, creating recipes and hosting. I am thrilled to be sharing recipes again with others. I am an enneagram helper… I just want to help. My 5 year old says “sharing is caring.” So that is what I do on this blog! Share because I care.

FAQ

I have an ebook- 10 in 30 Fast Family Meals to Love. I would LOVE to make a real cookbook one day. It is a dream of mine.

We have been gluten free for 13 years… ever since I learned I had a mild intolerance causing chronic inflammation and tummy pain. We are mostly grain free because we just feel better that way.

Over the years I have just learned what we enjoy eating. So I combine what we already love in different ways. I also find inspiration from other cooks and create healthier, gluten free recipes from other things I see.

Aldi, Kroger, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Vitacost, Amazon. I mix it up. Feeding a family of 6 is not cheap, especially when cooking with Whole Foods. So I shop sales and buy items where they are specifically cheaper.
